Monday 21 July

'mornin..........how are things with you? I'm trying to design some wedding stationery and this will be my mission this week. I've got two weddings to do.....one I've already designed and agreed with the bride and groom. The other one is more of a challenge. I'm going to have to come up with a few samples to try and whet their appetite and then go from there. It's difficult trying to price the job also because making all the stationery by hand is very time consuming but you can't price yourself out of the market. I feel another learning curve coming up!

Friday 18th July

I'm still trying to find some inspiration to make children's cards. I start off with good intentions and the next thing I know I've made a couple of girly cards again. I'll have to put away all my fav stuff and dig out the stamps I never use and make myself come up with something. I think it's because all the cards I've made before for children I've made for them personally where as I'm trying to make cards now for strangers (as it were). I think that's the big difference when you decide to try and sell your cards. You have to cater for strangers. I usually like to know what that person is into to make the card special but this way I have to make generic cards that will hopefully catch someones eye and mean something to them without me knowing them! Can you see where I'm coming from?

Wednesday 16th July

I'm not getting on very well with my album of photographs. I don't seem to have understood the concept of it so I'll have another go today. I'm just finishing off some hen party invitations for my daughter. She's a bridesmaid next year so it's fallen on her to arrange the hen weekend. They've turned out quite well and I'll try and get a photo up to give you an idea.

Ok.......it's the afternoon and I've managed to get a slideshow on my blog. I'll try and get a photo to appear within my text so that I can explain what I'm working on.

Tuesday 15th

I'm enjoying looking at other blogs so I'm going to try and keep one myself.

I'm spending my days setting up the background to start my own business (in a small way) from home. I'm working on increasing my stock of handmade cards and looking into going to craft fairs, boot sales etc in the local area. My real passion is teaching craft to anyone who will listen so I'm trying to arrange some workshops where I live. I've had to give up going out to work due to ill health so I'm giving it a go........... being my own boss! If anyone reads this from the Newport area of South Wales let me know. I'd love to meet fellow crafters locally. I'm concentrating on making childrens cards at the moment as I've realised that my crafting has become quite adult orientated without me realising it. I find that making a card for a child is a lot more challenging than for an adult. Anyone else feel the same way? I'm off to make a cuppa and get down to some serious crafting. Lyngo x
